Research Opportunities & Internships

The Experiential Learning Opportunities in Psychology (ELOPsy) at TCNJ encourage direct student involvement in and exploration of psychological theory, research, and application.

By the end of their undergraduate experience, many students have become colleagues of the faculty members -- this fact illustrates not only the level of work that students are able to achieve, but also the close relationships that students develop with their faculty mentors.

Research Opportunities

Internships

  • PSY 399/499 Internship

  • PSY 383 Counseling & Clinical Field Study

  • Potential Internship Sites (excel document)

    • Students in the Counseling & Clinical Specialization are encouraged to obtain their required field experience through PSY383 (Counseling & Clinical Field Study Seminar) whenever appropriate; however, the required field experience can also be obtained through PSY399/499. Independent internships (PSY399, PSY499) are also appropriate for non-clinical internships (e.g., developmental, I/O). For more information on Internships and on the differences between PSY383 and PSY399/499, click here.

Other Opportunities

Students may take ELOPsy courses three times (with the exception of PSY 396, 496 which may only be taken once, and PSY 397 which may only be taken twice and must be associated with different courses).

A maximum of one 300-level ELOPsy course may be counted as a Specialized course in the Psychology major and minor; one 300- or 400-level ELOPsy course may be counted as a Psychology Option in the Psychology major; one 400-level ELOPsy course may be counted as a Senior Experience course in the Psychology major (see specific Psychology specialization requirements).

Some ELOPsy courses may be taken for variable credit: PSY 399 and PSY 391/393. All other ELOPsy courses are 1 unit courses.
